Finally blogging about my BKK trip that WC and I went in August this year! 🙂
Happy to blog about this trip, as this trip brought us so many memories (the food, etc. ), and sad cause my shopping heaven is temporarily over! 😥
Us at Changi, waiting to board the plane!
My eye still looks swollen cause the day before I went for my check-up for the cyst in my eye! 😦
FIRST DAY
( Platinum Mall > Siam Night Market)
& we reached at the hotel:
Baiyoke Boutique Hotel.
120/350 Rajprarop Rd., Rajthevee, Bangkok 10400 Thailand
It only costs us SGD 140 dollars for 4 days 3 nights! 🙂
Our hotel is pretty near Platinum Mall, and so it was really convenient to head to the famous Wanton noodle store, which is pretty near,
SabX 2 Wanton Mee
Soi 19 Petchburi Road,
Pratunam, Bangkok.
We were so hungry once we reached, (and since we ordered the same noodles), I just took the pic of my own portion!
To share.
Next, we headed to Platinum Mall, for shopping!
And it was truly a shopping heaven! But it was pretty disappointing, as the price of the clothes was almost the same cost as SG’s Far East!
But we headed to the top level to have some local snacks during snack-time!
My favourite Thai dessert ever: Mango glutinous rice  (although its super fattening with its rice and coconut sauce)
This tasted really nice as they added a little nuts on top their rice! 🙂
I ate it like 3 times while I was in BKK! :O
Mung Bean Candy!
Its a must-eat snack in BKK, as my parents would always get these back, but it will spoil by the time it reaches SG! 😦
So eat it fresh at BKK!
There was another store selling Belgian waffles with different flavours, and I wanted to take a pic, but the security stopped me before I could, and told me that no photography was allowed! 😦
(Luckily I took the pics for the mango rice and mung bean! 😀 )
But do try the waffles only when you are having a sweet tooth! 🙂
After walking around at Platinum Mall for less than 30 mins, we decided to take a cab to Siam, heading to a restaurant serving authentic Thai food:
Somtam Nua
392/14 Soi Siam Square 5, Rama 1 Road, Bangkok, Thailand
Thai Iced Lemon Tea.
I love how Thais uses crushed ice for their drinks as it makes the whole drink colder at a faster rate ! 🙂
Mango salad.
This is so SOUR!!!
Tomyam soup.
This might look simple, but its power-packed with spiciness!
MUST ORDER! Its the best dish here! SUPER YUMS!~
Thai Vermicelli Noodles.
Its too sticky for my liking. 😦
Siam comprises of different shopping malls, such as Siam Discovery, Siam Paragon, but we were most interested in Siam night market, which is just opposite these shopping malls!
For a shopaholic like me, Siam night market must be my favourite night market in BKK ever!
The clothes, souvenirs, phone casings and accessories are quite special and unique! 😀
We are always searching for something special as a couple souvenir, whenever we go on a holiday!
When we both saw this small store selling this, we knew we would wanna get it! 😀
Wanted to head back on our 3rd day, which is on a Monday, but do take note that Siam night market is close on a Monday! 😥
Walked the whole of the night market, and after that we saw this, and we decided to try it, even though we were super bloated from the Thai food.
Chabuton Ramen
Siam Square Soi 3 (Rama I Rd.)
Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330
A warm bowl of ramen that doesn’t taste too salty must be the best thing ever after a night of shopping! 🙂
SECOND DAY
( Chatuchak> Chinatown > Asiatique)
Second day which was a Saturday, was spent at Chatuchak! 🙂
Us on the cab, on the way to Chatuchak!
Throughout the days we spent in BKK, we took cabs/ tuktuk almost everywhere we go, as our hotel isn’t near the BTS (MRT).
We randomly entered at a food stall selling Duck Noodles for our lunch.
Tasted alright, but good enough for my lunch! 🙂
Its too small though, but there are other food snacks around Chatuchak, so don’t worry!
Shopped around, and the weather was super hot! So we grabbed coconut ice cream!
This store had only nuts as its topping! 😦
The weather was too hot, and we couldn’t resist another one from a different store!
This time, it had 2 toppings that we could choose! 🙂
Walked around further, and WC wanted to try this!
Happy owners from this shop selling pork sausages!
This tasted alright!
But this had a weird pork taste, which I kinda dislike! I ate half of it, and spit the other half out! :O
Tried this and its yummy! 😀 The banana is frozen and so it tasted nice in the humid weather.
This mascot is for peanuts from Thailand! He looks so friendly! 🙂
Lack of pictures for Chatuchak as the shopaholic me was busy shopping around, but there were really good deals such as shoes for 150 baht for the entire shoe collection in their shop (that’s SGD 6), and a dress that I bought that cost me 10SGD! 😀
We left earlier at around 5pm BKK time, to prevent the traffic jam and food crowd at our next destination!
T&K Seafood
49-51 Soi Phadung Dao
Chinatown, Bangkok, Thailand
We paid for like 30SGD (for both of us), which is pretty worth it for seafood, but all dishes are cooked in the streets, so it tends to get a little unhygienic! 😦
Next, we headed to Asiatique,
2194 Charoenkrung Rd., Wat Prayakrai, Bangkoleam, Bangkok 10120, Thailand
The fastest way to get to there is to take the BTS/ cab to Saphan Taksin, and hop on the free boat shuttle at the end of the pier!
 Â
Was walking around and we saw this.
Its a booth selling locks, to write down both your names, and keep the love locked.
Something like Paris Love Lock Bridge! (this is Bangkok Love Lock Staircase though!HHAHA)
Wanted to get it, but it was pretty waste of money (it costs approx. 10-15 SGD) & after thinking about it we decided against it!
What we were here for! So more pictures for this!
Didn’t take this either, as I spent most of it on a store that was selling handmade accessories.
Was feeling thirsty and we just decided on this stall specialising in soymilk!
Refreshing soyamilk to end the day! 😀
THIRD DAY
( Pratunam Market > Erawan Shrine > Central World > Seafood )
This is the most EPIC day ever in BKK, read on to know why!
Explored the streets near Pratunam Market early in the the morning for street snacks!
Yummy crepes, just right opposite Platinum Mall!
Craving for this right now! 😥
WE TRIED ALL THESE FROM THE ABOVE PICS!
I feel that its really lucky going with WC, cause both of us are willing/daring to try SOOOO many stuff all at one shot, despite us being full most of the time! 🙂
We even drank too much Pomegranate/Grape juice and everything else, that we had to eat charcoal pills for the 2nd and 3rd day! (But we still continued street-snacking, 🙂
Took a tuk tuk and headed to Erawan Shrine, where the famous Four-faced Buddha is!
& headed to Central World for desserts!
Kalpapruek
27, Soi Pramuan, Silom Rd. | Bangrak, Bangrak, Bangkok 10500, Thailand
CARBONARA CAN NEVER GO WRONG!
Strawberry Freeze that tasted too sour!
And an instagram- picture- worthy dessert, Red Velvet Waffles with Strawberry Sauce and Cream!
However, this dessert was pretty disappointing. The strawberry sauce was too sour and the waffles didn’t had any red velvet taste to it, and it wasn’t fluffy too! 😦
Toffee Caramel Cake
This dessert is only suited for people with sweet tooth! I love sweet food, and so I found it to be alright, but WC didn’t really like it!
And here comes the EPIC part:
While we were enjoying our time at the restaurant, it was raining cats and dogs! :O
And before that, WC actually placed his jeans for alteration at this makeshift stall, and we had to reach there before the woman left at 4pm ( we were unable to collect it the next day as she wasn’t opening her stall, and we were leaving back to SG for the next day) .
Bangkok jams must be the worst ever in the rainy weather! Everything was jammed, the roads, the drains and even human jam! :O
The tuk tuk was only willing to stop us at the Platinum Mall entrance and so this was what happened. The whole road was flooded. I swear I never felt so garang before, cause I slowly dragged my feet in the dirty water, till we reached the makeshift stall and back to the hotel! And you never know how dirty it will ever be.
WC didn’t want to scare me but after that, he told me that there were a few cockroaches bodies swimming around! :S
Was so relieved to reach our hotel, but our plan to go to Terminal 21 also failed, due to the heavy rain! 😥
After the rain calmed down for like half an hour, we wanted to head out for dinner, and we supposedly decided on Somboon Seafood! We asked around the hotel staff though, and their description was the funniest! One mentioned that only try Somboon Seafood, if you have A LOT of money to spend.
By the way, Somboon Seafood is a “gold” restaurant in their country, meaning the food is the best, and the price is also the highest!
Our hotel staff introduced us to this taxi driver (which is the best taxi driver that we experienced). The rest were either unfriendly, or wanted to charge us higher than what wasn’t supposed to be. Take note that those taxis that had meters doesn’t mean that they actually would on the meters when you board, most still haggle around the price, before allowing you to board!
So our taxi driver introduced us to this seafood restaurant:
(will update the address and name for this once I find the namecard!)
All pictures from here, taken by WC! (the restaurant lighting is too yellow!)
My 2nd mango rice! YUMS! But still prefer the Platinum Mall one, as this one had no nutty taste!
As usual, we over-ordered WAY TOO MUCH (there’s a missing hotplate tofu), till the extent that even the people beside us were like staring & looking at the waitress order sheet! :O
But the food was really not bad, and this is the most expensive meal that we ate, it costs us about SGD 40 for 2 of us!
We booked him to send us to MBK (which partically had nothing except electronics/ thai food products), and walked to Siam Paragon just to pass time.
Its kind of a boring shopping mall that sells expensive stuff. 😦 We prefer to walk at night markets instead of shopping malls, as SG is FULL of shopping malls, so we find that there was no point in walking around Siam Paragon/ Siam Discovery that are almost the same price as SG’s.
Only this was interesting! Horses are just so majestic! 🙂
FOURTH DAY (LAST DAY)
For our last day, we headed back to the Wanton Noodle stall again for our lunch!
🙂
Finally landed our feet to Platinum Mall after the 1st day, and it was kinda boring, not much clothes to buy, and so we headed to Pratunam Market to walk around and got quite a number of good deals! 🙂
Our last meal before we boarded the plane, at this shop selling duck!
The duck was quite dry, but the noodles were springy!
Pretty oily and fatty! ;O
My last mango rice from the DMK airport! 😦
Which is really nice with its warm rice, and fresh mango! 🙂
A nice end to our short holiday!
AND SO, WE CONQUERED BANGKOK! 🙂
