Dates for the weekend

Hello! 🙂

So, today’s post is on what I did for the previous weekend!

So, on Friday, WC and I decided to eat Kiseki Jap buffet! He even picked me from my workplace, so that we could rush in time for the walk-in queue that starts at 6pm, as reservations were fully booked for that day. 😦

H5DeAm1384789584

While queueing for Kiseki. This was when we were still in a good mood to even take pictures while queuing. -.-

We queued for approx. 1 hour before we decided to give up, cause we were too hungry and WC saw this awesome Chinese restaurant that had buffet too, so we proceeded to there!

Self-service appetisers that are also included in the buffet.

Love the peanuts and beancurd skin! 🙂

KdK8ws1384860446

Crispy fried gyoza that has huge pork, shrimps and chives inside! 🙂

c46PI61384860551

Soup with wanton! Too much MSG in this soup as it tasted too salty! 😦

GeCYKI1384860858

BEST DISH EVER: FRIED FISH FILLET WITH PEPPER! 🙂

VVV fresh! 🙂

9PpMT41384860993

A small pathetic portion of the chilli prawns with fried bun!

Marked with a tick for this dish, and indeed they gave us ONE PIECE only.

The table beside us faced the same problem too! :O

But the sauce was GOOD! It tasted like chilli crabs sauce!

H91wFI1384861312

Special Pork Ribs, that tasted tender and sweet!

hSxf601384861796

Spinach Beancurd. MUST-ORDER, with its tender and soft beancurd!

cvbia41384870274

Xiao Long Bao that tasted pretty alright, but not as memorable as Ding Tai Fung’s one!

Fried to perfection, but the skin was too greasy!

Other than these,  there were more food such as the rice (that tasted mediocre) and seafood soup (which tasted not bad, due to its generous serving of the prawns), and mango sago dessert (more pomelo than mango)  that we ordered, but didn’t take the pictures as we were too hungry!

Although there were some hits and misses from this buffet, we paid 26 bucks for each person, including GST and service charge, which makes it cheaper than other weekend dinner buffet restaurants. 🙂

Additionally, the service pretty much made up for its food, where staff were so polite and prompt! 🙂

Walked around Orchard Central, and

YqupgD1384871863

Two more books to the John Green collection! 🙂

After that, we picked Melon up from his workplace, and watch Captain Philips!

It was kinda draggy at parts, but I still found it ok. Apparently, its 5 stars (??!!).

Have your realised recently there are so many movies tackling the theme of loss and isolation, which is highly recommended to watch? Such as Prisoners, Gravity and now Captain Philips!

But I have watched two of these three, and find that its depressing/ draggy at some parts, so I won’t really give it 5 stars for the storyline!

A pink Saturday to enjoy while accompanying WC for his upcoming test! 🙂

Still unable to try their red velvet nutella though! 😦

Although this cupcake is a little costly ($4 per piece), its really moist and has hidden treasures (fillings I mean), in the cupcake itself that makes it more special! 🙂 CRAVING FOR IT RIGHT NOW! :O

I WILL BE BACK FOR THE RED VELVET!

I will gladly head back for this cake, and the brunch! 😀
So that’s two café to look out for in the sunny Singapore, which are really worthy of exploration!
Thanks for reading! 😀

Book For Thoughts

Hi everyone!

Decided to give myself a self-proclaimed short break from blogging after my post for BKK that actually took me weeks to edit (resize and addition of fonts) to the pics. If you haven’t seen it, its a post down! 🙂

Anyway, been trying out cardio at home for last week, due to the cray-cray weather (I read from somewhere that Thor just wanted us to watch his new movie, and so the weather has been really rainy, stormy and thunder-y. HAHAHAH!), and surprisingly, cardio actually made me sweat more than running! O.O

However, I stopped cardio for this week, due to being sick. And the only thing to do other than exercising, was to read books, play the piano and watch Hongkong/Korean dramas.

So I just finished reading this book!

20131114_224530

“The Fault In Our Stars” by John Green

This book, is the BEST book I ever read. SERIOUSLY.

All the quotes and stuff in this book is so full of depth, and while reading this book, it makes you think about life.

When we think about how our life is so horrible/ horrid/ sucky now, there is someone out there suffering due to illnesses that are incurable like cancer, like Hazel Grace and Augustus.

While we are healthy, and can still appreciate what we have right now, just treasure whoever is there for you, no matter what happens. 🙂

I will want to read his other books too! 🙂

There are a few portions that I would like to mention for this post too though, that I find it really meaningful. 🙂

“My name is Hazel. Augustus Waters was the great star-crossed love of my life. Ours was an epic love story, and I won’t be able to get more than a sentence into it without disappearing into a puddle of tears. Gus knew. Gus knows. I will not tell you our love story, because- like all real love stories- it will die with us, as it should. I’d hoped that he’d be eulogizing me, because there’s no one I’d rather have…”

“Some infinities are bigger than other infinites.”

“But, Gus, my love, I cannot tell you how thankful I am for our little infinity. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. You gave me a forever within the numbered days, and I’m grateful.”

“The marks that humans leave are mostly scars.”

“You don’t get to choose if you get hurt in this world, but you do have some say in who hurts you. “

Though this shouldn’t be mentioned, and I should just keep it silently to myself, but this phrase up there, reminds me of friends that hurt me pretty badly.

To her/ them, I might be considered overly sensitive, but how am I to react when all I felt is isolation or unhappiness? And that’s when I decided to break this friendship all off, cause I was too sick of giving in, letting her/them step over me, when I know that they don’t really appreciate me as a friend.

Its sad, knowing how things have come to this point, but I do know that if I go back as being friends with her/them, the cycle would repeat and I won’t be able to break off at all, and its me giving in again.

Its not that I don’t mind giving in, but friendship like a relationship, and it requires two people to continuously put in effort to maintain this friendship, but sadly, I don’t see it from you/your.

I’m glad that I moved on though, and discovered many true, sincere friends like my Sec sch babes: Nisa, Fana they all, other sec sch friends: CK, Jenn jenn, WC’s buddies and now my guy buddies: Melon, Woody and Mr Muscle, my ex-uni mates: Raffles, Shingo, Jiayi they all, and my poly clique Hh San, Yingying, Xiao Egg and Ruiying.

I’m glad I stayed in your life, while you stayed in mine. 🙂

And of course, extra extra extra attention, to my boyfriend, WC, who played such an important role in helping me slowly pick up and mend the pieces in my life. 😀 I knew I was pretty much the bitch at that moment of time, cause I pretty much flared up ALL the time, but you still was there for me! 🙂

So life’s still good at this moment of time, and now onto my next motivational book: The Answer. 🙂

Blogpost next up on Chanel’s Black Jacket Exhibition that I will be going this week!:D

BKK travelogue

Finally blogging about my BKK trip that WC and I went in August this year! 🙂

Happy to blog about this trip, as this trip brought us so many memories (the food, etc. ), and sad cause my shopping heaven is temporarily over! 😥

( Platinum Mall > Siam Night Market)

It only costs us SGD 140 dollars for 4 days 3 nights! 🙂

We were so hungry once we reached, (and since we ordered the same noodles), I just took the pic of my own portion!

nDySsP1382249662

To share.

Next, we headed to Platinum Mall, for shopping!

And it was truly a shopping heaven! But it was pretty disappointing, as the price of the clothes was almost the same cost as SG’s Far East!

But we headed to the top level to have some local snacks during snack-time!

HnIQ4K1382250583

S5NTMe1382250801

My favourite Thai dessert ever: Mango glutinous rice  (although its super fattening with its rice and coconut sauce)

This tasted really nice as they added a little nuts on top their rice! 🙂

I ate it like 3 times while I was in BKK! :O

yo9vyq1382251030

Mung Bean Candy!

Its a must-eat snack in BKK, as my parents would always get these back, but it will spoil by the time it reaches SG! 😦

So eat it fresh at BKK!

There was another store selling Belgian waffles with different flavours, and I wanted to take a pic, but the security stopped me before I could, and told me that no photography was allowed! 😦

(Luckily I took the pics for the mango rice and mung bean! 😀 )

But do try the waffles only when you are having a sweet tooth! 🙂

After walking around at Platinum Mall for less than 30 mins, we decided to take a cab to Siam, heading to a restaurant serving authentic Thai food:

I love how Thais uses crushed ice for their drinks as it makes the whole drink colder at a faster rate ! 🙂

eMQiwC1382252306

Mango salad.

This is so SOUR!!!

eCl6PX1382252458

Tomyam soup.

This might look simple, but its power-packed with spiciness!

ESfw9v1382453538

MUST ORDER! Its the best dish here! SUPER YUMS!~

J9vKuG1382453995

Thai Vermicelli Noodles.

Its too sticky for my liking.  😦

Siam comprises of different shopping malls, such as Siam Discovery, Siam Paragon, but we were most interested in Siam night market, which is just opposite these shopping malls!

For a shopaholic like me, Siam night market must be my favourite night market in BKK ever!

The clothes, souvenirs, phone casings and accessories are quite special and unique! 😀

rsz_2013-08-04_001851

We are always searching for something special as a couple souvenir, whenever we go on a holiday!

When we both saw this small store selling this, we knew we would wanna get it! 😀

Wanted to head back on our 3rd day, which is on a Monday, but do take note that Siam night market is close on a Monday! 😥

Walked the whole of the night market, and after that we saw this, and we decided to try it, even though we were super bloated from the Thai food.

SECOND DAY

( Chatuchak> Chinatown > Asiatique)

Second day which was a Saturday, was spent at Chatuchak! 🙂

DCPd9v1382871145

Us on the cab, on the way to Chatuchak!

Throughout the days we spent in BKK, we took cabs/ tuktuk almost everywhere we go, as our hotel isn’t near the BTS (MRT).

We randomly entered at a food stall selling Duck Noodles for our lunch.

0ZgGou1382870672

AIbM7v1382870968

Tasted alright, but good enough for my lunch! 🙂

Its too small though, but there are other food snacks around Chatuchak, so don’t worry!

Shopped around, and the weather was super hot! So we grabbed coconut ice cream!

VIhACJ1382872406

ntJwuz1382881050

This store had only nuts as its topping! 😦

YLU4aR1382881182

The weather was too hot, and we couldn’t resist another one from a different store!

3vVLAS1382881392

This time, it had 2 toppings that we could choose! 🙂

Walked around further, and WC wanted to try this!

AUemyv1382881513

Happy owners from this shop selling pork sausages!

yTzNAd1382881699

This tasted alright!

WiBeMM1382881813

But this had a weird pork taste, which I kinda dislike! I ate half of it, and spit the other half out! :O

wEcy4P1382881985

Tried this and its yummy! 😀 The banana is frozen and so it tasted nice in the humid weather.

SzazyG1382882148

T9MDuM1382882272

This mascot is for peanuts from Thailand! He looks so friendly! 🙂

Lack of pictures for Chatuchak as the shopaholic me was busy shopping around, but there were really good deals such as shoes for 150 baht for the entire shoe collection in their shop (that’s SGD 6), and a dress that I bought that cost me 10SGD! 😀

We left earlier at around 5pm BKK time, to prevent the traffic jam and food crowd at our next destination!

T&K Seafood
49-51 Soi Phadung Dao

We paid for like 30SGD (for both of us), which is pretty worth it for seafood, but all dishes are cooked in the streets, so it tends to get a little unhygienic! 😦

Next, we headed to Asiatique,

2194 Charoenkrung Rd., Wat Prayakrai, Bangkoleam, Bangkok 10120, Thailand

The fastest way to get to there is to take the BTS/ cab to Saphan Taksin, and hop on the free boat shuttle at the end of the pier!

THIRD DAY

( Pratunam Market > Erawan Shrine > Central World > Seafood )

iMlLDv1383579960

WE TRIED ALL THESE FROM THE ABOVE PICS!

I feel that its really lucky going with WC, cause both of us are willing/daring to try SOOOO many stuff all at one shot, despite us being full most of the time! 🙂

We even drank too much Pomegranate/Grape juice and everything else, that we had to eat charcoal pills for the 2nd and 3rd day! (But we still continued street-snacking, 🙂

Took a tuk tuk and headed to Erawan Shrine, where the famous Four-faced Buddha is!

And an instagram- picture- worthy dessert, Red Velvet Waffles with Strawberry Sauce and Cream!

However, this dessert was pretty disappointing. The strawberry sauce was too sour and the waffles didn’t had any red velvet taste to it, and it wasn’t fluffy too! 😦

UoCdQq1383661493

Toffee Caramel Cake

This dessert is only suited for people with sweet tooth! I love sweet food, and so I found it to be alright, but WC didn’t really like it!

And here comes the EPIC part:

While we were enjoying our time at the restaurant, it was raining cats and dogs! :O

And before that, WC actually placed his jeans for alteration at this makeshift stall, and we had to reach there before the woman left at 4pm ( we were unable to collect it the next day as she wasn’t opening her stall, and we were leaving back to SG for the next day) .

Bangkok jams must be the worst ever in the rainy weather! Everything was jammed, the roads, the drains and even human jam! :O

RTEvGT1383661921

The tuk tuk was only willing to stop us at the Platinum Mall entrance and so this was what happened. The whole road was flooded. I swear I never felt so garang before, cause I slowly dragged my feet in the dirty water, till we reached the makeshift stall and back to the hotel! And you never know how dirty it will ever be.

WC didn’t want to scare me but after that, he told me that there were a few cockroaches bodies swimming around! :S

Was so relieved to reach our hotel, but our plan to go to Terminal 21 also failed, due to the heavy rain! 😥

After the rain calmed down for like half an hour, we wanted to head out for dinner, and we supposedly decided on Somboon Seafood! We asked around the hotel staff though, and their description was the funniest! One mentioned that only try Somboon Seafood, if you have A LOT of money to spend.

By the way, Somboon Seafood is a “gold” restaurant in their country, meaning the food is the best, and the price is also the highest!

Our hotel staff introduced us to this taxi driver (which is the best taxi driver that we experienced). The rest were either unfriendly, or wanted to charge us higher than what wasn’t supposed to be. Take note that those taxis that had meters doesn’t mean that they actually would on the meters when you board, most still haggle around the price, before allowing you to board!

So our taxi driver introduced us to this seafood restaurant:

(will update the address and name for this once I find the namecard!)

All pictures from here, taken by WC! (the restaurant lighting is too yellow!)

My 2nd mango rice! YUMS! But still prefer the Platinum Mall one, as this one had no nutty taste!

As usual, we over-ordered WAY TOO MUCH (there’s a missing hotplate tofu), till the extent that even the people beside us were like staring & looking at the waitress order sheet! :O

But the food was really not bad, and this is the most expensive meal that we ate, it costs us about SGD 40 for 2 of us!

We booked him to send us to MBK (which partically had nothing except electronics/ thai food products), and walked to Siam Paragon  just to pass time.

Its kind of a boring shopping mall that sells expensive stuff. 😦 We prefer to walk at night markets instead of shopping malls,  as SG is FULL of shopping malls, so we find that there was no point in walking around Siam Paragon/ Siam Discovery that are almost the same price as SG’s.

JcQxWE1383663768

Only this was interesting! Horses are just so majestic! 🙂

FOURTH DAY (LAST DAY)

For our last day, we headed back to the Wanton Noodle stall again for our lunch!

🙂

Finally landed our feet to Platinum Mall after the 1st day, and it was kinda boring, not much clothes to buy, and so we headed to Pratunam Market to walk around and got quite a number of good deals! 🙂

Our last meal before we boarded the plane, at this shop selling duck!

The duck was quite dry, but the noodles were springy!

My last mango rice from the DMK airport! 😦

Which is really nice with its warm rice, and fresh mango! 🙂

A nice end to our short holiday!
